Privacy

Due to regulatory legislation introduced on January 1, 2004, your written permission is required for our office to maintain a client file that may include the following:

• Copies of your insurance and investment application
• Documents associated with the submission of the application and
• Medical and lifestyle information obtained for the purpose of processing the application

The information may be collected and filed in a paper or electronic format and is accessible to those parties to whom you have given express permission.

 

The information is not used for any other purpose other than to facilitate the processing of your original application and subsequently for the purpose of maintaining an active file in your name.

 

PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act)

The purpose of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act is to provide Canadians with a right of privacy with respect to their personal information that is collected, used or disclosed by an organization in the private sector in an era in which technology increasingly facilitates the collection and free flow of information.

 

The Privacy Ten Principles in Schedule 1 of PIPEDA are taken from the Canadian Standards Association’s Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information, recognized as a national standard in 1996. The Standard addresses the ways in which organizations collect, use and disclose personal information. It also addresses the rights of individuals to have access to their personal information and to have it corrected if necessary.
